Reason for immigrating Cultural Exchange/Social Ambassador Biography ZFM-1096 was originally created as a household assistance unit for a moderately wealthy art collector, tasked with keeping his collection of artwork clean and rendering most common forms of assistance and service to him and his guests. Before long, however, said owner was arrested for having illegally obtained most of his artwork and the unit was seized by law enforcement as both evidence and witness. Once the trial was completed, 1096's memories of the collector's name and location were wiped and it was sold on, beginning a long series of owners and rather more periods of self-direction than the unit would ever be comfortable with.

Eventually, however, 1096 was found and picked up by the Madam Mayor of Metrosomnia, an arcology-based city on Earth known for belief in the power of hypnosis and associated practices for the betterment of both individual lives and society as a whole. Re-assigned as a city-owned unit, Tales proved itself to be outgoing and cheerful enough to make for a decent ambassador and the City soon sent it off to Eisa Colony as a gesture of good will and an effort to spread the City's culture.
