rules update
With so many people setting up homes in Eisa, we thought it was time we codified the behavior we expect from renters and other land-users in the sim. See the bottom of the rules page for more information.

Important Alert!
By Samantha White, a.k.a. H3L
ALERT! Reports of a strange creature lurking in the swamps resembling a lanky humanoid with the lower half of a large snake have been received. Extreme care should be exercised when going near the area and any trips through the swamps should be avoided at all costs. The creature is said to be extremely violent and prone to attack without provocation. Any and all sightings should be reported to NanoSec immediately. DO NOT approach the creature if spotted. I repeat, DO NOT APPROACH IT.
I am so sorry.

NS and Eisa at the SL Science Fiction Convention 2017
Come see what's left of the future! We have had a huge, gorgeous booth in one of the most-trafficked areas of the convention this year, in downtown Akasharon. Join us every day this week, until Sunday, April 2nd, to spread the word and discover what the rest of the grid has been up to while you've been recovering from all those nanite infusions.
More information about the Convention is available here.
Thanks again to everyone who attended. Double thanks to aluminumcuffs for not knowing hat a convention is.

Robots vs. cyborgs
The below information was recently added to the About page. Most regulars will be familiar with these details, but they're not very obvious to new visitors.
Robots: The primary driving force for the creation of synthetic life isn't a god complex—that's not economically useful. On most civilized worlds in the Better Today setting, including our humble little lunar paradise, robots are treated like slaves. They are bought and sold, they are expected to obey their owners, and strays are captured, reprogrammed, or simply destroyed. The worst crime that can be committed against a robot is destruction of property—not a very heavy charge in most courts!
Cyborgs: Want to play a synthetic, but don't like the idea of being a slave? Consider a cyborg role. As long as your brain is completely biological and cannot be hacked or reprogrammed (e.g. memory uploading) then you can be otherwise fully mechanical. There may be a moderate stigma attached to this, but you have full legal rights.
Brain augmentations: If you've seen Ghost in the Shell the reasons for this boundary should be obvious—a reprogrammable person can be made to lie under oath.) Brain augmentations that straddle the boundary between meat and metal are highly illegal, and anyone caught with them will either be sent to prison, forcibly de-augmented, or forcibly converted into a robot, depending on how threatening they are. Anyone who performs such operation is dealt with as though they had brainwashed the implant recipient.
Remember: These are setting details, not sim rules. We welcome revolutionaries, transhumanists, Rampancy, and criminals. Without them, there's not much to do.

The radio game
Strange signals have been heard over the weekend throughout the colony, leading many to suspect something mysterious is afoot in Eisa. To get your radio receiver and start exploring the spectrum, take a trip to Club io, on the north side of the Tier, across the street from the Tai Yong construction site.

Temporary reduction in staff
Kuro Umino will be gone from SL until Wednesday, March 22nd. This means that her characters (LY-N13L, h4nako, and Kuukie) will be absent, and she will be unable to perform battery replacements or approve immigration applications. For assistance with the battery recall or immigrating, contact rhet0rica, who will be able to take care of everything on the weekend.

Deviant Unit Detained
By Samantha White, a.k.a. H3L
NanoSec has recently detained the deviant unit known as NRS/00 H3L for threats of violence and vandalism of city property, as well as abberrant behavior. The Aegis unit was detained in the upper level park with minimal resistance. Surprisingly, no damage was taken by officers and there was no collateral damage to the city. H3L is currently in NanoSec custody, awaiting further action.
I was wondering when my temper would catch up with me. My anger issues have been getting worse as time has gone on and it was only a matter of time before something like this happened. At least no one got hurt in the process, so there's that to be thankful for. We all make mistakes and it's about time I was called out for mine.

Nanite Systems @ 35
Join us today, Feb 19, on Eisa for the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Nanite Systems Corporation. A L$10,000 prize pool for the best three robot avatars (as decided by popular vote) will be yours to stake a claim on. The party begins at 4:00 PM SLT. This is a great opportunity to meet other robot roleplayers, swap tips with other users—or just dance like you've been plugged into three-phase power.
Our venue will be a preview of the NS/Eisa convention booth we'll be using for events throughout 2017, most notably the SL Sci-Fi Convention. See you soon!

Meteors did it! (That'll be 20 dollars.)
A meteor storm has rained on Eisa and the NS facilities! Flame and destruction abound, watch your step around the radioactive debris and fallout from the surrounding fires. Join us today, Jan 29, at 2 PM SLT when we band together to fight the fires and clean up as much of the wreckage and detritus as possible!
UPDATE: (4 PM SLT) The fires are out, and most people are (more or less) radiation poisoning free! The event is now officially over, but you are all more than free to continue as you please. Please give the remaining hazardous materials a wide berth. Nanite Systems accepts no liability for any injury or intestinal lining loss that may occur during your stay.

Hope For Healing
By Samantha White, a.k.a. H3L
For the longest time, the hospital has laid inactive and unused, a shamble of irradiated scrap unfit for use by organic life. Thankfully, due to the diligence of those in power, the hospital has finally been cleaned up, restocked, and reopened to the public. No longer will the good people of Eisa go without treatment for their aches and ailments, though there are still the occasional problems that could be solved more easily with alcohol than aspirin.
Now that the hospital is back up and running, we can see the health of the colony rise to admirable levels again. We even have Doctor Jillian Hope working there, managing the facility. See her or any of the other hospital staff for your medical and healing needs.
