Genetic modifications None Synthetic modifications None Reason for immigrating Extrasolar field research contract. Eisa Colony represents a viable base of operations for ongoing survey work in the region. Biography I'm Sebastian Milo Bishop. I would prefer Dr. Bishop, though the title has proved less useful in practice than the examining committee implied it would be. I mention it here because this appears to be the appropriate section in which to do so.
Exobiologist by training, independent contractor by ongoing necessity. I specialise in biosignature detection and habitability assessment for extrasolar bodies, which in practical terms means collecting samples from places that are trying to kill me, writing reports that get filed somewhere in the bureaucratic equivalent of a black hole, and invoicing organisations whose accounts payable departments operate on a timescale that suggests they are also conducting long-duration extrasolar missions. I hold a private pilot certificate, which has proven more professionally relevant than either of my postgraduate degrees. I am also a certified divemaster. This has not.
Field research has taken me to eleven extrasolar bodies of varying inhospitability. Three required EVA suits not rated for the conditions I subsequently encountered. I filed detailed incident reports on all three occasions. I have received no acknowledgement of receipt. I assume this is fine.
I was previously attached to NASA Ames Research Center in a postdoctoral capacity until the relevant department was restructured out of existence by people who I strongly suspect had never personally worn an underrated EVA suit. Prior to that, staff researcher at the Cascadia Institute for Exobiological Research, which has also ceased to exist. An earlier field posting aboard the RSV Queliot, a survey vessel operating under the NASA Ames collaborative program, confirmed several things about prolonged close-quarters research environments that I had previously only suspected. There is no pattern here worth reading into.
Most recently, contracted researcher at the Shuijiao Research Institute, Tei Tenga, 2023–2025. Biosignature and habitability consultancy on the outer rim. The posting was obtained through professional connections and the institute's cosmological focus is somewhat adjacent to my own specialisation, which made for an interesting two years in the sense that interesting is a word with many applications.
Outside of professional obligations I am fond of surfing, fishing, and most activities involving sun, sea, and sand. I am aware that this is an unusual set of hobbies for someone who spends the majority of his time in locations where all three of those things are either absent, actively hostile, or technically present but composed of something that will cause chemical burns. I have the medical records to support this characterisation. Several of them.
I am arriving at Eisa Colony on a work visa. I have active research interests in the area. The form requested elaboration. This is the elaboration.
A photograph has been attached. It is a recent likeness. The hat was a gift and the form did not specify dress code.
